Rant: Never Go On Hiatus!

This will be quick.

I want my future self to come back to this post and rethink whatever decision I have made that causes me to stop blogging for a long period of time (months). I left in January 2017; came back and everyone I knew blew up.

I need answers! What happened during this time?!?!

If my memory serves me correctly, and lord knows I have terrible memory, the majority of people I “knew” on WordPress didn’t have nearly as many as anything they have now. Whether it be followers, communication with authors, revenue probably (I don’t know if they were ballin’ before, but I’m still putting it in there), etc., etc.

I’m talking about being in the low hundreds (100-300 maybe) to in the high hundred to thousands (800-1000+) of followers. What happened? What did y’all do? Really, I need answers. Seven months of consistent content gets you there cause I’m blown away to be honest.

When I noticed the growth of my blogging colleagues (is that the right term here), I was shocked first, proud second, and right back to shocked. I want to congratulate every one of you that continued on and did your thing in those seven months. I’m so glad to still see you here and doing for what seems like better than how you were before.

Seriously, y’all deserve it to have stuck around when some didn’t (yes, I noticed names missing too). Keep doing your thing.

It really hit me how long I was gone and how much I missed this when Krysti of KrystiYAandWine said it was good to see me back. I had to put you in there cause it really hit me then. I felt like that was my sign of welcome back to something I enjoyed. Thank you for that Krysti.

And to myself, don’t you ever go on a hiatus…..a damn hiatus……don’t do that shit again. Never stop doing what you enjoy cause that’s what you live by. “Like it, do it. Don’t like it, don’t do it”. Don’t go back on your own words. I’ll slap you if you do. It’s possible. Future me, you, us will make it possible. Hell wrong with you, smh *flips hair and stops typing*.

Was that quick? I thought it would be. Sometimes you have to yell at yaself to get ya life, you know?

If you remember me from back then and still come to my blog, thank you. Congrats again to the blogging boomers. Congrats to the baby blogging boomers. Congrats to you as an individual. Lastly, congrats to the up and comers, the new bloggers. Good luck.

  1. Ahahaha, I’ve been scared to go on hiatus for this very reason. Coming back and seeing some of the ones that I enjoyed before have changed so much or completely gone would definitely have me shocked, but I can’t imagine the big surprise for what you said. XD It is super good to have you back, though, and I had missed your posts. Can’t wait to see what you have next now the hiatus is off! 🙂

    1. I didn’t even leave on purpose. I honestly don’t even have a reason for going on hiatus, but it is kind of scary to see all the changes. I’m glad to be back. Gotta catch up to y’all now, so look out 😀 Thanks for sticking with me

  3. Thanks so much for the shoutout! I’m thrilled to see you back here! This year has been crazy, and you’re so right that a lot of our blogging buddies have had tremendous growth over the past several months. It seems like the blogs that have had that happen are the ones that are interacting in the book community the most here in WP as well as on social media, but that’s just a theory. 😉

    1. Super late with this reply. Your comment was in the spam folder for whatever reason. You’re welcome though. I saw the growth everywhere and I was just like wow. I missed so much. I’m just glad to be back and see a lot of the same people doing bigger and better things. You’re on a whole different level from what I remember, too. You go!

    1. Yeah, you’re right. Have to stay consistent and true to myself at all times. Never waver again.

I feel like a vet, which is very weird cause I’ve on been blogging for technically 2 1/2 months, but it’s always cool to hear others that are just starting who look up to me as someone to “catch up to”. And I say good luck to you all. All of us are trying to make it out here 😀
