Book Tag – How I Choose My Books

A shoutout and thank you to Darque Dreamer for hitting ya boy with a tag.

It was created by The Bookish Underdog, and now it’s time to add my own touch to it!

1. Find a book on your shelves with a blue cover.

What made you pick up the book in the first place?

Beneath the Skin by Kyla Stone.jpg

Once again, I did not read the synopsis or the genre when choosing to read this novel. Didn’t when I picked it up either.

Based of the cover, I said, “…..I need it”, so I got it. Boom!

2. Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy but did.

Why did you read it in the first place?

You Don't Know My Name by Kristin Orlando.jpg

I looked at the cover. I like. I read the synopsis. I kind of liked. I read it. I enjoyed.

That’s how I see it. The MC is a spy. C’mon now, that’s pretty automatic for me to read.

3. Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick up a book at random.

How did you discover this book?

I keep trying to tell y’all my memory is absolute trash.

I don’t know when I found this book, but I know for sure that I picked it up based on the cover. Look it at. It’s beautiful.

4. Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you.

What did you think of it?

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.jpg

One of my all time favorite novel right here. First book I ever put up there with the Harry Potter series.

It’s that good.

5. Pick a book you discovered through book blogs.

Did it live up to the hype?

The Blazing Star 2 by Imani Josey.jpg

It most definitely did! First book I read in years with a Black MC.

It felt super relatable and real from what I know growing up.

6. Find a book on your shelves with a one word title.

What drew you to this book?

Cover is nice and I’m a rebel at heart.

I could not pass up a book on rebels rebelling. My nature wouldn’t permit.

7. What book did you discover through a film/TV adaptation?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Movie.jpg

Taking it back to the OG’s. This movie led me to find the book, which then led me to become the reader I am today.

I remember it so vividly…..*wipes away nostalgic tears*.

8. Think of your all-time favorite books.

When did you read these and why did you pick them up in the first place?

Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief.jpg

I mentioned Harry Potter and The Mysterious Benedict Society, so all I’m left with is the first Percy Jackson book.

I literally just found this in the library one day, which I stole might I add. Don’t judge me. I know I didn’t have to tell, but y’all don’t have to judge either so ha!

About two weeks later the movie aired. I had good timing. Still have that same book today *memories*
