December Wrap-Up

December was pretty hectic.

From college finals, to re-adjusting myself at home, to Christmas – it was all over the place (not to mention my sleeping habits were terrible most of the time).

I didn’t read nearly as much as I’d hope to, but here’s to January being better. Here’s all the novels with links to their synopsis and reviews.

The Blazing Star by Imani Josey Book Review

I’m back

I took an accidental break, lmao. These 5 days of not being on WordPress at all were…..weird. It was like something was tugging my shirt and I didn’t look back at what it was. Since then, my birthday has passed (Jan 2).

That’s really all that happened, which is why I don’t understand how I managed to take a break. The world may never know the answer…….

Moving on, let’s get into this book review! Want to read more?

I won’t say much about this novel, but I can say that it may be 5/5 without much of a doubt. Click here for the Goodreads Synopsis.

The Gender Game by Bella Forrest

I know a lot have people may have thought of what a world may look like if men and women had their own separate spaces (goddamn countries) to live. Bella Forrest gave us that and added a little spice with a great story. It’s shaping to be 4-5 stars. Click here for the Goodreads Synopsis.

Finished Reads

Final Girls by Riley Sager

Bruh! So far, this was the best novel I’ve read in 2016. The ending solidified the rating I wanted to give it with a surprising loop that even I didn’t think of! Automatic 5/5 after that ending. I’m a hard critic, so for me to let others know this was a 5/5 is BIG

Vampyrie: Origin of the Vampire by Tina Frisco

I found Tina Frisco on WordPress, saw she wrote a novel, read the synopsis (caught my attention), and saw it was FREE on Amazon, I had to read it. The myth of Vampires has always been interesting to me. I’ve already reviewed it, too! If you want to check it out, click here.

When Three’s Not a Crowd!!! My top reads of 2016

When by coincidence you have nine books, a catchy title, and great reads – you have to take advantage of that lol! Ishita @bookmyopia (WP not Twitter) has given her audience some of her favorite reads of 2016. Click the original post link for more on her post and blog site!

Sooo, when I was picking some of my favorite reads in 2016, I realized I can call them out in groups of three:

  1. New-to-me authors:

A Monster Calls This was perfection ❤ and my only 5-star read this year.

Fangirl  I loved – Cath!! The way Rowell portrayed her struggle with social anxiety was so relatable. I disliked – The abrupt ending to the Simon Snow show after all the extended page-time.

Speak Check out my Teaser Tuesday post here.

2) Standalone fantasy/paranormal

The Diabolic An inter-galactic fantasy replete with themes of loyalty, political coups and revenge. Check out my review here.

Holding Smoke I honestly didn’t think I would end up liking this one so much because – A) I totally judge books with people on the cover. B) I have been sandbagged in the past with “soul-themes” turning into religious fiction. But I had nothing to worry about. Read my…
